The college accepts any high school graduate (or equivalent) who seeks general admission. Applicants must take a computerized Placement Test (CPT). The Colleges range of education programs allow students planning a career in teaching to complete the first two years of a baccalaureate program and earn an Associate of Arts degree whether they plan to teach elementary or secondary school.

NOT LOCK STEP:  A Degree Program and/or specific Course that allows the student to progress at his/her own pace.

A non-high school graduate with ability to perform college-level work and benefit from post-secondary education can enroll by satisfactorily passing The College Assessment Exam.

To be considered for admission to Empire State College you must:
Have a high school transcript, GED score report/diploma

Demonstrate ability to pursue college-level work through the writing assessment in the application.
